ZOWELL recently completed the delivery of 4 narrow aisle forklifts for a European customer in the hardware distribution industry, including:

The solution was designed to separate full-pallet storage and retrieval from high-frequency order picking, allowing different operations to run independently across dedicated warehouse aisles.
This project provides a practical warehouse solution for businesses handling multiple SKUs, high order frequency and different material handling operations.
The customer is a European hardware products distributor and warehouse operator managing a large number of SKUs.
The warehouse needed to handle two different types of operations:
The customer already had VNA forklifts and order-picking equipment in operation. However, full-pallet handling and order-picking activities were taking place within the same aisles, creating operational conflicts and limiting overall warehouse efficiency.
The key requirement was clear:
Dedicated zones, independent aisle operations and higher warehouse productivity.

With a large number of hardware products and diverse order profiles, full-pallet storage and retrieval operations were mixed with piece-picking activities.
Forklift waiting, operator avoidance and traffic congestion reduced aisle utilization and created unnecessary delays.
Hardware orders typically involve many product types, small quantities and frequent picking activities.
As retail and e-commerce orders increase, the customer needed a more efficient solution to improve picking productivity while maintaining operator comfort.
ZOWELL proposed a combination of:
2 × Man-Up VNA Forklifts + 2 × High-Level Order Pickers
The warehouse's 7 aisles were divided into dedicated operating zones:
The 4 newly delivered ZOWELL machines operate independently together with 3 existing forklifts from other brands, reducing interference between different warehouse operations.

Two ZOWELL Man-Up VNA Forklifts are responsible for full-pallet storage and retrieval across two dedicated aisles.
With a maximum lifting height of up to 18 m and a rated capacity of 1.6 tons for the standard configuration, the VNA forklifts are designed for high-density storage in narrow aisles.
The operator platform moves together with the forks, providing an elevated working position and improved visibility during high-level pallet handling.
The electric three-way fork head enables efficient load positioning, with 180° fork rotation completed in less than 10 seconds.
Four aisles are dedicated to piece-picking operations, supported by two ZOWELL High-Level Order Pickers.
The machines are equipped with dual-direction driving, allowing operators to move efficiently within narrow aisles.
The operator platform can be lifted together with the operator to the required picking level, creating a “man-to-goods” picking solution.
This configuration is particularly suitable for hardware warehouses where orders involve:
High SKU variety + small quantities + high picking frequency.
Dedicated forklifts for dedicated aisles allow full-pallet handling and piece picking to operate in parallel, reducing operational conflicts and unnecessary waiting.
The combination of narrow aisles and high-level storage helps maximize available warehouse capacity and improve storage density.
Clearly defined operating zones make different warehouse activities easier to manage, creating a more structured and efficient material flow.
This project demonstrates how combining VNA forklifts and high-level order pickers can help hardware distributors manage different warehouse operations within the same facility.
For warehouses handling multiple SKUs, high-frequency picking and high-density pallet storage, ZOWELL can provide tailored narrow aisle forklift and warehouse material handling solutions based on the actual application requirements.
